Host a Screening

Host an event in your community

Holding a group screening of Veiled Voices can provide an excellent format to bring together people of different view points, whether it be an interfaith group, a women's group, a student organization or just ordinary members of your community.

Here's how to do it:

  • Order a copy of Veiled Voices.
  • Download the Viewing Guide for discussion topics to help guide your dialogue. We also have a special Ramadan Viewing Guide as well for download.
  • Select a location to view the film, this could be a community meeting place or even your home.
  • Invite friends, members from your community or group.

After watching the film, use the discussion topics as a launching point for a dialogue within your group.  Remember, holding a dialogue is about creating a space for the exchange of ideas and for individual reflection.

By watching the film together and then discussing key topics your group can work to promote peace and intercultural understanding.  For more tips and information on holding a community screening and dialogue, contact Kari[at]veiledvoices.com.

Fall 2010 Screening Tour

We are launching a screening tour this spring at universities, colleges and other sites across the U.S.  The tour will continue through fall of 2010.  In addition to screening her film, Maher will make a short presentation discussing how Muslim women are represented in film, drawing on questions and decisions that she, herself, faced while shooting and editing Veiled Voices.  She will also be able to provide updates and further information about the women featured in the film and answer any questions people in the audience may have.

If your university or organization would like to learn more about hosting a Veiled Voices screening event, please contact outreach coordinator Kari Barber.  To order a copy of Veiled Voices, please contact Alex Williams at Typecast Releasing.
